More than 600 new and about 100 innovative educational programs have been implemented over the past two years.

More than 600 new and about 100 innovative educational programs have been implemented by state and national universities Over 600 new and about 100 innovative educational programs have been implemented by state and national universities subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan over the past two years.

The new ones include those programs for which the training of personnel at the university was not carried out earlier. Innovative ones are those that are also being introduced at the university for the first time, but at the same time, they have no analogues in the country. The largest number of new educational programs have been opened in such areas as “Pedagogical Sciences” (20%), “Business, Management and Law” (18%) and “Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction Industries” (16%). This trend is associated with an increase in the status of teachers and with the demand for the development of the manufacturing and construction sectors of the country’s economy. “All new and innovative programs of national and state universities subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science are included in the Register of educational programs of higher and postgraduate education. This confirms their compliance with the qualification requirements that apply to the educational activities of universities. Now we are increasing the demand for the quality of education. An important advantage is that the programs being implemented are developed jointly with employers, taking into account their requests and requirements for specialists, ”said Adlet Toybaev, Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For example, since 2019, Karaganda Technical University has been training specialists for digital production in 7 new educational programs. These are “Digital technologies in mechanical engineering”, “Built-in digital control systems”, “Construction of mining enterprises and underground facilities”, “Digital aerial photography”, “Food bioindustry”, “IT-medicine” and “Earth remote sensing”. National and state universities also train specialists in such innovative educational programs as Cyberpedagogy, Designing Digital Analytical Educational Systems, Artificial Intelligence Technologies, Flight Dynamics and Aircraft Traffic Control, Medical Engineering and others. At Toraigyrov University (formerly “Pavlodar State University named after S. Toraigyrov”) a new innovative faculty of Computer Science has been created. University students will study cybersecurity, software engineering, web development, DevOps engineering, graphics, augmented and virtual reality. They will be taught by practicing IT specialists. Also, over the past two years, universities have updated such educational programs as “Digital Pedagogy”, “STEM Education”, “Information Security”, “Human Resource Management” and others. Universities are working to improve and update the content and other educational programs. To date, they have updated more than 40% of existing programs. They include new disciplines and practice-oriented courses. Note that, within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Education and Science for 2020-2025, the introduction of new educational programs will continue.
