Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan
Baku, June 21, 2021
– Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi paid an official visit to Baku. He met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Ali Asadov, as well as negotiations with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov.
M. Tleuberdi conveyed to the Leader of Azerbaijan warm greetings and wishes of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the First President – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. He congratulated on the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity on the basis of international law and UN Security Council resolutions and discussed the implementation of the agreements at the highest level.In turn, President I. Aliyev thanked for the congratulations and noted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have long-standing trusting relations.
“The foundation of this friendship was laid in due time by Nursultan Nazarbayev and Heydar Aliyev, and today the presidents of the two countries continue this course,” the President of Azerbaijan said. He expressed confidence that the visit of President K. Tokayev to Azerbaijan will give an additional impetus to cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The parties agreed on the need to further strengthen trade and economic ties and coordinate efforts to develop transit and transport potential. During the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, M. Tleuberdi discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular in the investment, trade-economic, transit-transport and energy spheres. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan invited representatives of Azerbaijani business to participate in the creation of a network of wholesale distribution centers for agricultural products in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The head of the Azerbaijani government noted the potential for the development of trade relations, especially in the supply of Azerbaijani products to the western regions of Kazakhstan. He invited Kazakh companies to take an active part in the restoration of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is a priority for the Azerbaijani society today.
At the talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan D.Bayramov, the parties “synchronized watches” on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, regional and international agendas, including Caspian issues, mutual support within the UN, OSCE, CIS, CICA, Turkic Council and other multilateral organizations … Emphasizing the commonality of views on the prospects for the development of Turkic integration, the diplomats expressed confidence that the Turkic world will become one of the most important economic, cultural and humanitarian regions of the world.
M. Tleuberdi welcomed the trilateral agreements reached between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on November 10, 2020 and January 11, 2021. He expressed hope that the stabilization of the situation around Karabakh will create new conditions for a more extensive trans-regional integration of the South Caucasus with Kazakhstan and the countries of Central Asia, disclosing the growing potential of the Caspian port infrastructure of the two countries, taking into account the unblocking of transport links in the region. In turn, D. Bayramov informed about the current situation in the South Caucasus region, the steps taken by Azerbaijan to implement the adopted trilateral agreements.
The parties outlined plans for the next 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, implementation of projects within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, considered the prospects for the participation of Kazakhstani companies in the restoration of the civil infrastructure of the liberated territories of Karabakh.
The Kazakh Foreign Minister noted with satisfaction the ongoing supplies of Kazakhstani freight electric locomotives and grain to the Azerbaijani market, the implementation of a joint project to lay a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, which will expand the transit potential of our countries in the telecommunications sector. In the context of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in 2022, the parties agreed on the need for careful preparation for the celebration of this anniversary date. During the visit, the Kazakh delegation took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the Monument of the Eternal Flame on the Martyrs’ Alley.
