Road asset management system will start working in 2021
The implementation of the Road Assets Management System continues in Kazakhstan. The project for digitalization of the road industry is being implemented with the support of the World Bank and will be put into commercial operation this year after passing tests for compliance with information security requirements.
The road asset management system is a specially developed information system, which, based on the detailed data of the instrumental survey of roads, predicts the necessary volumes of investments required for repairs.
RAMS allows you to optimize the life cycle costs of roads by eliminating defects at an early stage, thus reducing capital costs. Also, thanks to the system, a transition will be made to the concept of “Budget based on results” due to the transition from quantitative indicators of assessing the state of the road network to qualitative indicators.
At present, the RAMS is being tested for compliance with information security requirements, after which it is planned to be put into commercial operation.
Note that one of the important components of the RAMS is an instrumental examination of the condition of roads by mobile laboratories. Instrumental diagnostics of about 19 thousand km of the republican network are planned for the current year. In the future, it is planned to cover the local road network of the country with diagnostic work.
