Alexey Tsoy met with representatives of WHO, UNICEF, GAVI and A4HP

Today, the Kazakhstan Ministry of Health hosted an online meeting of the head of the department, Aleksey Tsoy, with representatives of international and non-governmental organizations. The meeting participants got acquainted with the current situation in the healthcare system of the Republic of Kazakhstan and discussed promising areas for further partnership.
The agenda of the event included COVID-19, vaccination, and prevention of the spread of a new infection, including the development of primary health care, medical care for people with HIV / AIDS, and the provision of medical care to migrants.
The event was attended by Caroline Clarinwal, the WHO Representative in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Suraya Dalil, Director of the Special Program for Primary Health Care, Basil Rodriguez, UNICEF Regional Health Adviser for Europe and Central Asia, Camilla Beretta and Caroline Staffel-Wangi, GAVI consultants, Joanna Koch, consultant Alliance for Health Promotion (A4HP).
In his welcoming speech, Alexei Tsoy noted that today the cooperation of the Ministry of Health with international and non-governmental organizations is characterized by stability and high interest in deepening it.
“The potential for interaction between our organizations, in our opinion, is not used enough. In this direction, we are ready to step up our work and jointly identify promising areas that are mutually beneficial for the parties, ”said Alexey Tsoy.
He stressed that the coronavirus epidemic has become a test of the unity and strength of cooperation between the Turkic Council countries. It demonstrated the key importance of international cooperation, collaboration, and support in the fight against infection.
“Since the outbreak of the epidemic, we have been in close contact, exchange information, coordinate joint actions, and provide mutual assistance. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude and gratitude to the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and others who provided humanitarian and practical assistance to the people of Kazakhstan in the fight against COVID-19, as well as to non-governmental organizations for their support and assistance in resolving these issues, ”the head of the Ministry of Health said.
In turn, Suraya Dalil, Director of the WHO Special Program for Primary Health Care, praised the leading role of Kazakhstan in addressing primary health care issues and noted the importance of vaccination against COVID-19.
Following the discussion, the participants made a joint decision on constant interaction and exchange of views, the concretization of joint plans with an annual summing up of the results of partnership and implementation of joint events.

GAVI, created in 2000, is an international organization – the Global Vaccine Alliance, bringing together the public and private sectors with the common goal of creating equal access to new and underused vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries.
GAVI has partnered with WHO to create and manage COVAX, a vaccine component in the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT). GAVI’s role includes coordinating the COVAX Mechanism, a global risk-sharing mechanism for pooled procurement and fair distribution of possible COVID-19 vaccines.
