The “Dissolve” drama by AstanaFilmFund was included in the main program of the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival
The psychological drama “Dissolve” directed by Kim Ki-Duk was included in the main competition program of the 42nd Moscow International Film Festival.
The film was shot by Kim Ki Duk in 2018 in Kazakhstan and became a joint project of the famous director and the Astana Film Fund. The premiere of the tape took place in 2019 at the II AlmatyFilmFestival.
The film “Dissolve” raises the problem of domestic violence that is urgent all over the world, in the center of the plot are two similar girls. One leads a free and bright life, while the other lives in the eternal fear of disobeying parents and older brother. One day the girls change places.
Kim Ki Duk became not only the director of the film but also acted as a screenwriter, cameraman, and editor.
Filming took place over 10 days in Almaty, Medeo, Chimbulak, and Issyk Lake.
“I have long had a dream to travel around the world and make films in different countries of the world. In 2012, he came to Almaty for the first time and the idea arose to make a film together with Kazakhstan. Before filming, I watched a lot of Kazakhstani films here, and I had a desire to make co-production. The picture was created in my style, but together with Kazakhstani actors, ”said director Kim Ki Duk.
The film stars are Sanzhar Madi, Chingiz Kapin, Erken Gubashev, Irina Azhmukhamedova, and Dinara Zhumagaliyeva.
“Films shot in Kazakhstan are frequent participants in the Moscow Film Festival program. Russian viewers and the expert community have repeatedly noted the high artistic value of Kazakhstani films. I am sure that our joint work with Master Kim will become one more “visiting card” of the national film industry, ”said the film producer Akhan Satayev.
“Dissolve” has become one of the important steps in promoting Almaty as one of the best locations for shooting films of various genres. This is a large program of the leadership of our city to transform the metropolis into a Eurasian center of film production. We are glad that this particular film was included in the main program of the prestigious Moscow festival, ”said film producer Ernar Kurmashev.
The 42nd Moscow International Film Festival will take place from 1 to 8 October. So far, its program includes 5 films. Along with the Kazakh film, the main competition presents films from Azerbaijan, Romania, Israel, and Russia.
