Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Tsoy met with representatives of the UN and WHO in Kazakhstan
The Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an online meeting with official representatives of the World Health Organization and the United Nations in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, Alexey Tsoy told the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, Mr. Norimas Shimomur, and the Acting WHO Representative in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr. Caroline Clarinval about the ongoing work and plans to further prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Among the measures are active public awareness, development of clear instructions for all levels of medical care, training of medical personnel in the basic principles of prevention and treatment of coronavirus infection, and the formation of a personnel reserve.
“To increase the availability of COVID-19 diagnostics in Kazakhstan, we are expanding the use of computed tomography and digital X-ray machines, work is being carried out to organize test fences by mobile teams during calls. At the same time, laboratory testing facilities are expanding, ”said Aleksey Tsoy.
In terms of treatment, the hospital continues to equip hospitals with artificial lung ventilation devices, expand to 50% of infectious and provisional beds, introduce remote consultations at the outpatient level, provide medical care at home and, of course, increase the availability of ambulance.
Attention was paid to the current issue of saturation of pharmacies with necessary drugs. For this, the minister said, the agency worked out the acceleration of the procurement, supply of medicines, and stimulation of domestic producers.
The parties also discussed the possibility of mutual cooperation in combating the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
“I would like to especially note the importance of creating, under the leadership of the UN and WHO, a Supply Chain Task Force in connection with COVID-19. Kazakhstan, like many other states, is interested in participating in the system of organizing the supply of the most important materials needed to fight the virus, ”the head of the Ministry of Health emphasized.
To coordinate this process and the participation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the supply chain in connection with COVID-19, the relevant candidates have already been identified by the Kazakh side.
The meeting participants noted the importance of exchanging data and experience in combating and preventing the spread of COVID-19, the issues of providing advisory and technical assistance (risk communication, contact tracing, research, training for medical specialists, logistics, providing medicines, etc.)
The Kazakhstan side proposed to send WHO experts to provide practical assistance to medical specialists in the regions.
At the end of the meeting, Alexei Tsoy thanked Mr. Shimomur and Dr. Clarinval for their interest in realizing the tasks and expressed his readiness to strengthen and develop further partnerships in the healthcare sector. And for the “clock reconciliation” in relation to the ongoing work on COVID-19, it was proposed to conduct meetings remotely on an ongoing basis.
