MFA is actively involved in the promotion of Kazakhstan culture abroad
NUR-SULTAN, April 15, 2019 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan takes an active part in the implementation of the program of modernization of “Ruhani Zanyru” the public consciousness of Kazakhstani people , announced by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. The program has become an important part of the work of the foreign institutions of Kazakhstan in promoting the cultural and historical heritage of our country.
Only following the results of 2018, more than 250 thematic events were held in foreign countries, including more than 130 meetings, 34 “round tables”, 28 book and photo exhibitions, film screenings about the history and culture of Kazakhstan. 150 articles were published in foreign media.
In order to familiarize the world community with the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan in the period from 2017 to 2018, three cultural press tours were organized for foreign journalists specializing in culture and the arts. About 50 representatives of foreign media from 21 countries of the world visited important cultural sights of the capital of Kazakhstan and Almaty, as well as sacred places of Shymkent, Turkestan and Mangystau region.
On the topic of “Rouhani zagyru”, materials are regularly published in the English-language newsletter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “Astana calling”, which is published on a weekly basis.
Among the most significant events can be noted the participation of Kazakhstan in the London Book Fair in 2018 and 2019, during which the best works of the classics of Kazakh literature were presented to the global audience. Among them are “Beauty in Mourning and Other Stories” by Mukhtar Auezov, “Deer Man and Other Stories” by Oralkhan Bokeev and “Selected Works” by Gerold Belger and others.
Currently, within the framework of “Modern Kazakhstan Culture in the Global World” project , the National Foundation of Translation Public Foundation, with the support of Kazakhstan’s embassies abroad, is working to translate the two-volume anthology of Kazakh literature into the six UN official languages.
