Speaking to reporters, the Head of State summarized the results of the talks that took place during the official visit to the Republic of Belarus.
The President of Kazakhstan noted the open and confidential nature of relations between the two states, which are reliable partners to each other.

“We have no questions on which we could not find mutually acceptable solutions.” We have considered in detail the wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, “the Head of State said.

In turn, Alexander Lukashenko also stressed the importance of strategic cooperation in the format of bilateral relations and integration associations.

– For 25 years we have become not just friends, but also serious strategic economic partners. Kazakhstan is an important and time-tested ally for us, both in the format of bilateral relations, and within the framework of integration associations and international organizations, “said the President of Belarus.

The heads of state noted that during the talks special attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere.

Nursultan Nazarbayev informed mass media representatives that the volume of trade turnover between the countries for the 9 months of the current year grew by more than 60% and amounted to 441 million US dollars.

At the same time, the Head of State pointed to the need for more active use by the governments of the two countries of the existing unused reserves in mutual trade, taking into account the potential of Eurasian integration.

– I was asked to work on the expansion of our trade nomenclature. A special emphasis was placed on strengthening our industrial cooperation and concrete examples of increasing bilateral trade, “Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The head of state separately dwelt on the need to increase the efficiency of joint ventures in the production of combines, tractors, quarry, dumper, trailed and other equipment.

Noting the geographical location of the two countries, the President of Kazakhstan paid special attention to the great possibilities of transit and transport cooperation and noted the expediency of its expansion.

– Over the past six years, transit traffic between China and Europe through Kazakhstan and Belarus has increased almost 100 times. In 2018, we expect a twofold increase in this volume. We agreed on further actions of Astana and Minsk on cooperation in this sphere, “Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

In his speech, the President of Belarus stressed the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of IT technologies.

“This visit has given a start to a new stage of bilateral cooperation, the distinctive features of which will be the interpenetration of capitals with an emphasis on innovation and high technologies,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

In conclusion, the Head of State expressed his confidence that the talks will give a powerful impetus to the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Belarus across the entire spectrum of interaction.

Within the framework of the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus, a package of bilateral agreements was signed:

– Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus on socio-economic cooperation and the Program of Cooperation until 2026;

– agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the field of mass media;

– an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on the production and scientific and technical cooperation of organizations of defense industries.

– a plan for cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus for 2018-2019;

– the program of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus for 2018-2019;

– Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus;

– an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus.

Negotiations in an expanded format within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Belarus

During the talks, issues of mutual strategic cooperation in trade, mutual investment, financial instruments, education, information technologies, housing and road construction were discussed. The issues of creating transnational corporations within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union were also discussed.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of bilateral agreements within the framework of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Nursultan Nazarbayev gave a positive assessment of the achievements of the Belarusian side in the field of information technology and outlined the prospects for cooperation in this area.

– Our countries pay great attention to the development of information technology. We have an information technology park “Alatau”, studies are conducted in Nazarbayev University, an International Technopark of IT startups is being created on the basis of EXPO-2017, “the President of Kazakhstan said.

In his turn, the President of the Republic of Belarus noted the tendency to overcome the recession in the Kazakh-Belarusian economic relations.

– Your visit will serve the process of developing mutual trade. In this context, our government members and experts will propose options and relevant solutions, “said Alexander Lukashenko.

During the talks, the sides stressed the need to intensify the dialogue of the member states of the EAEC to develop approaches and solutions on the range of issues under discussion.

Within the framework of the official visit, it is planned to sign a wide package of bilateral documents.

After the official ceremony of the meeting between the heads of state, the talks were held in a narrow format.
Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed gratitude to Alexander Lukashenko for the invitation to visit Minsk with an official visit and noted that this visit takes place in the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.

The head of state underlined the historically established friendly character of relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus.

– In a short historical period, significant advances have been made. In difficult conditions we have created a powerful political base for bilateral cooperation. Our states are reliable partners who have open and confidential relations, “the President of Kazakhstan said.

The head of state positively assessed the dynamics of development of the Kazakh-Belarusian trade and economic cooperation during the current year.

Nursultan Nazarbayev also recalled the close economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Belarus within the framework of a common integration association – the Eurasian Economic Union.

– In Kazakhstan there are 260 Belarusian enterprises, 6 joint large automobile assembly plants. On the shelves of Kazakh stores, the products of Belarusian agriculture are sold, “said the Head of State.

In turn, Alexander Lukashenko noted the importance of the visit of the President of Kazakhstan in the context of further deepening and expanding bilateral cooperation.

“I am sure that your visit will increase the turnover, and we have everything for this,” said the President of the Republic of Belarus.

At the end of the meeting the heads of state expressed their confidence that the documents signed today will contribute to further deepening of relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus.
