The Head of State within the visit to the People’s Republic of China had a Meeting with Xi Jinping, Chairman of the People’s Republic of China

The Head of State thanked the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China for inviting to “One Belt and One Road” Forum and noted its good organization.

– I think that the Forum is meant to be one of this year’s highlights all over the world. Your speech today has been extremely thoughtful and answered many questions of cooperation between countries. “One Belt and One Road” is a new paradigm, a scheme of cooperation at a new level, the President of Kazakhstan said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that “One Belt and One Road” idea is cooperation not only at the regional level, but also interaction between countries of different continents.

– More than 60 countries, i.e.  45% of the world’s population, are covered by this belt. Bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and China has become exemplary, and other countries can learn from us, the Head of State said.

The President of Kazakhstan noted the positive dynamics in evolution of the relationship between the two states and expressed confidence in their further strengthening at a higher level.

In addition, the parties discussed the matters of ensuring regional and cyber security, as well as pressing matters on the international agenda.

Xi Jinping thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for Kazakhstan’s contribution to the Syrian conflict settlement.

The Chairman of the People’s Republic of China noted the Nurly Zhol Program’s success, as well as the relevance of the CICA’s international initiative.

The Chinese leader confirmed his readiness to visit Kazakhstan on an official visit, and take part in the SCO summit and the opening of EXPO-2017 trade show.

The two leaders have also given consideration to a number of issues of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to increasing trade turnover and cooperation in the fields of industry, innovation, transport and energy.

Meeting with Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China

At the meeting the sides exchanged views on the state and prospects for development of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and the People’s Republic of China.

– Our relations have become a model for foreign countries. At the meeting in 2014 we raised the possibility of implementing projects on establishment of production plants and connection of transport systems. We are faced with actualization of a number of important projects, said the President of Kazakhstan.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, noting the significance of integration processes, laid emphasis on the overriding concern of “One Belt and One Road” initiative in the current conditions.

The Head of State has made a point of the positive results of linking the two programs – Nurly Zhol and the Silk Road.

In addition, the sides discussed issues of increasing the volume of trade between the countries, prospects for using the transit potential of Kazakhstan, aspects of developing technologies and environmentally friendly modern productions, as well as interaction in the energy and agricultural spheres.

In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan invited Li Keqiang to pay a visit to our country.

Meetings with leaders of foreign states

The Head of State held a number of working meetings with leaders of foreign countries as part of the opening ceremony of “One Belt and One Road” Forum for International Cooperation.

The President of Kazakhstan greeted President Xi Jinping of China and congratulated him on the Forum’s successful opening.

Nursultan Nazarbayev had talks with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation and Recep Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, with whom he discussed the results of the recent round of Astana talks on Syria. Noting the results of the Astana process, Erdogan stressed its importance for continuing the dialogue on the Syrian issue in Geneva.

The Head of the State has also exchanged greetings with Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Najib Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum.

Nursultan Nazarbayev also had a conversation with Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, who confirmed his intention to participate in the upcoming SCO summit in Astana.

The Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rahoy during the conversation with the President of Kazakhstan has confirmed the participation of the King of Spain in the upcoming international exhibition EXPO-2017.

Participation in the opening ceremony of “One Belt and One Road” Forum for International Cooperation

The President of Kazakhstan has taken part in the Forum opening ceremony, which was also attended by the heads of foreign states, international organizations and delegations.

The President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.


The Forum’s main goal is to discuss areas for intensifying cooperation, creating platforms for interaction and exchanging the results of cooperation.

Key issues such as infrastructure communication, trade and economic cooperation, industrial investment, energy and resources, financial support, environmental protection will be given consideration to.
