By the end of the year, about 20 thousand hectares of irrigated land will be put into circulation in Almaty region

In the Almaty region, as a result of the reconstruction of irrigation networks at the expense of the Islamic Development Bank, the overhaul of 10 water facilities by the end of the year, it is planned to restore about 20 thousand hectares of irrigated land. In general, it is planned to implement projects in 16 districts of the region and restore 137.8 thousand hectares of irrigated land, – the press service of the akim of the Almaty region reports.

According to the regional department of agriculture, there are 214 hydraulic structures in the region, including 75 reservoirs, 85 ponds, 21 dams, 33 water intakes. The length of all irrigation networks is 16.5 thousand km.
From 2015 to 2019, 4.7 billion tenge was allocated from the local budget for repair and restoration work of 33 water bodies. As a result of repair work, 19.3 thousand hectares of irrigated land were restored. Since 2019, projects have been implemented in the region at the expense of the Islamic Development Bank for the reconstruction of irrigation networks in Aksu, Alakol, Eskeldinsky, Koksu districts. By the end of the year, as a result of reconstruction at the expense of the Islamic Development Bank, an overhaul of 10 water facilities, it is planned to restore about 20 thousand hectares of irrigated land. In general, it is planned to implement projects in 16 districts of the region and restore 137.8 thousand hectares of irrigated land.
In addition, in order to involve newly irrigated land with an area of ​​81.8 thousand hectares in the region, it is planned to reconstruct and build new irrigation networks, build new and restore emergency reservoirs and ponds.
The list of infrastructure projects implemented in the current year within the framework of the Employment Roadmap program includes 5 projects totaling 4,664 million tenge, including the reconstruction of three hydraulic structures – the Koksu Dam, the Karatal Dam, and the Usek hydroelectric complex of the Panfilov District, as well as irrigation networks of the city of Taldykorgan, allowing to restore more than 2 thousand hectares of irrigated land, allocated 3662 million tenge. Construction and installation work is currently underway. In addition, within the framework of the PUID-2 project, the restoration of the engineering and drainage system is envisaged in an area of ​​12.4 thousand hectares. These are the Akdala irrigated massif with an area of ​​7481 hectares in the Balkhash region and the Baltabay massif with an area of ​​5000 hectares in the Enbekshikazakh region.
It is worth recalling that today, work has been completed to restore the Kyzylagash reservoir in the Aksu district in the amount of 5.9 billion tenge. To increase the area of ​​the suspended massif to 6900 hectares, design and estimate documentation has been developed for the construction of general irrigation networks. In addition, a feasibility study has been developed for the construction of the Pokatilovsky reservoir in the Sarkan region, and a feasibility study for the Sunkar and Tegermen reservoirs in the Uygur region is being developed.
