The film “A Girl and the Sea” directed by Aziz Zairov and Muhamed Mamyrbekov was released in Kazakhstan. The film is screened in the cinemas of Nur-Sultan, Shymkent, Aktobe and Almaty.
The plot of the social drama shot by the Kazakhfilm studio with the participation of ARDI’s New World video studio commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, tells about the difficult fate of a girl named Asel, who lives with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, about her dreams, love and family. The film was based on a real story from the life of the ward of the rehabilitation center “ARDI” (Association of parents of disabled children) of Dinara Sharipova.
– It is not easy for people with disabilities, and we believe that the film “A Girl and the Sea” will help society to be more attentive to their problems. I highly recommend this film for viewing to everyone, ”said Arman Asenov, president of the Kazakhfilm film studio, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan.
The painting of “A Girl and the Sea” was put into production in the spring of 2017. The main shooting of the film took place in Almaty, individual scenes were shot on the coast of Kapchagay.
– We are very glad that Kazakhstanis will see our picture. Before going on a wide rental, the film was presented at international festivals. As part of special events, the picture was seen by residents of Russia, Britain and Spain. “A Girl and the Sea” is the second part of the “Unlimited Opportunities” dilogy, which tells about the lives of young people with disabilities. We presented both parts of the dilogy to the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev, during his visit to the ARDI rehabilitation center. The head of state praised the work done by us and sent letters of thanks to the directors and actors, – said the director of the picture, Aziz Zairov.
Most of the roles in the film were played by unprofessional actors with special needs – wards of the ARDI rehabilitation center. So, for example, one of the main roles was played by Tahir Umarov, known for his role in the first part of the dilogy, as well as Kanagat Taskarayev, who played a cameo role in the second part of Emir Baygazin’s trilogy “Wounded Angel”. And for the role of the sister of the main character, a professional theater and film actress Gulbakhram Baybosynova was invited.
– The film “A Girl and the Sea”, reveals to the wide audience the whole range of problems that people with special needs face. Spectators can not only better understand and fall in love with our heroes, but also gain faith in their own strengths and unlimited possibilities, ”said co-director Muhamed Mamyrbekov.
