Congratulations to Kazakhstan’s national team on the successful 28th World Winter Universiade

The President congratulated the national team, which showed good results in the 28th World Winter Universiade in Almaty.

“Kazakhstan’s team has won the second place in a bitter struggle; it is a high prestige of the country, the rate of development of mass sports.

You have showed the highest level of training, aspiration and will to victory, once again confirming the glory of Kazakhstan’s sports school.

Universiade-2017 has become a truly real holiday for all the nation of Kazakhstan.

Our athletes’ victory has become a good stimulus for further development of winter sports; it is an example for the next generation.

I am also grateful to the Universiade Organizing Committee for taking responsibility and excellent organization of the competitions.

I wish all the athletes good health and success in the quest for new sports tops,” the congratulatory message reads.

Meeting with Yerlan Sagadiev, Minister of Education and Science

During the meeting the Head of State was presented a report on the results of the Ministry of Education and Science for 2016.

Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the importance of education and science in implementing the forthcoming reforms, and the Address to Kazakhstan’s nation “Third Modernization: Global Competitiveness.”

– We have made major efforts on personnel training both within the country and within the walls of foreign educational institutions. We are making transition to the trilingual education and digital learning. There are big challenges before the Ministry of Education and Science concerning further development of the sphere.  Solution of the problems formulated in the Address, including fulfilment of technological modernization and actualization of “Digital Kazakhstan” state program, would be impossible without good human resources, the President of Kazakhstan said.

E.Sagadiev read a report to the President about the Ministry’s ongoing reforms as related to introduction of the modernized format of the education content, transition to a five-day school week, and elaboration of basic textbooks.

In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the ongoing reforms results in the education system, placing greater focus on the issues of securing their information support, as well as the implementation of tasks.

Following the meeting the Head of State has given some instructions.

Meeting with Kanat Bozumbayev, the Energy Minister

The Head of State has been informed of the highlight figures of the energy industry growth and the future plans of the sector projects’ modernization.

During the meeting the President of Kazakhstan emphasized the need to actualize projects in the sphere of producing and processing of energy commodities.

– Oil production at Kashagan has started. Decision upon whether to expand the Tengiz field has been taken. In addition, we have handled the matter with Karachaganak. In this connection it is necessary to increase oil production and refining. To that end, we are carrying out modernization of three oil refineries, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President also noted the importance of conducting work on gas extraction and the country’s gasification, addressing the Balkhash thermal power plant construction, as well as energy facilities’ privatization.

In turn, the Minister of Energy reported on the fulfillment of the energy production plan according to individual indicators, as well as the increase in the oil export by the end of 2016.

– The oil production plan was 75.5 million tons; the actual amount is 78 million tons. Over-fulfilment can be observed due to production at Kashagan, where the past year gave about 1 million tons of oil. Oil exports increased to 62 million tons, of which 40 million tons were pumped by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. For the first time the refined tar volume reached 325 thousand tons due to stimulation by the state. Liquid gas production has increased by 136 tons, K.Bozumbayev said.

At the same time, Minister of Energy reported to Nursultan Nazarbayev on liquid gas delivery expansion for the needs of motorists based on the agreement between producers and traders, condition of export electricity, plans for intensification of exploration and uranium mining decline prospects due to the unfavorable situation on the market.

Following the meeting the Head of State has given a number of specific instructions.

The Head of State receives Culture and Sport Minister Arystanbek Muhamediuly

In the course of the meeting the Head of State was presented a report on ing the World Winter Universiade in Almaty.

– Kazakhstan has held Universiade-2017 at the proper level. Our athletes have become an example for the rising generation, showing off skills and good results in these competitions, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

Culture and Sports Minister reported to the President on summation of the winter events and the measures taken to further progress of mass sports.

– At this stage the Ministry is getting prepared for the upcoming Asian Winter Games in Japan and the Olympic Games in 2018 in the Republic of Korea, A.Muhamediuly said.

The President of Kazakhstan marked out the importance of continuous development of classical art, motion-picture industry and the new talents’ backing.
